Zeeland East High School

Zeeland East (8-1-1) defeated Stevensville Lakeshore (0-2) by a 7-1 score on August 27th, powered by a sweep of the doubles matches and enough work in singles to make the result comfortable. The lone blemish for Zeeland East came at No. 1 singles, where Stevensville Lakeshore’s Mason Bellinger (1-1) rallied past Daniel Steenwyk (1-9) 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 in the tightest match of the day. Zeeland East answered quickly at No. 2 singles, as Gavin Sullivan (5-5) took a walkover victory over Saathvik Kanumuri. Andrew Colasanti and Oliver Reese added straight-set wins in the middle of the lineup, each controlling their matches with ease. Zeeland East’s doubles teams were even more dominant, with Jacob Guerriero and Luke Hathaway, Jace Velderman and Payton Ott, Lukas Hafeman and Pierson Kolean, and Ben Slotman and Max Lewis all posting convincing victories to complete the sweep. The win moved Zeeland East to 8-1-1 on the season.
