ZE Chix JV Football Game Junior Varsity vs Muskegon High School (38 - 28) Win The 2-0 Chix JV Football team hosted the Muskegon Big Reds Thursday evening on a beautiful night for high school football. The Chix jumped out to 30 - 0 lead midway through the 3rd quarter before the Big Reds capitalized on some big pass plays in the 4th quarter and held on to 38-28 win. The win improves the Chix record to 3-0 on the season. The Chix scored on their first 5 possessions of the game. After a 43 yard kick return by Soph Mikah Jones on the opening kickoff the game, the Chix used a balance attack of passing and running to take an early lead on a Mikah Jones 2 yard run. After the 2 point conversion catch by Soph. Everett Hunsberger, the Chix led 8-0. On the next drive, the Chix were forced to punt and on the punt play, Soph. Kolten Kimmel forced a fumble, which was recovered by Freshman Drew Taylor and the Chix were back on offense. The again used a balance offensive attack to score their 2nd touchdown of the game, a 21 yard pass from Soph. QB Hudson Lamer to WR Mikah Jones and the Chix extended their lead to 16 -0 after the Chase Shults 2 point conversion run. QB Lamer was just getting started on his big passing day for the Chix. Lamer threw for 192 yards and 4 touchdowns in only 3 quarters of game action. Lamer found Soph. WR Finn McGovern from 8 yards out just before halftime to give the Chix a 22-0 lead at the intermission. In the 3rd quarter, Lamer found Jones two more times for scores, the first touchdown was a 14 yard pass and the second touchdown was a 64 pass and run. Jones on the day scored 4 touchdowns, 3 receiving & 1 rushing, and added a 2 point conversion for good measure. Defensively, Soph. DB Braylen Diaz had 7 tackles, while Soph Chase Shults added 5 tackles. Fresh DB Landon Zinke recorded a fumble recovery and intercepted a pass for the Chix, while Soph. Kolten Kimmel added 3 tackles, 1 Tackle-for-Loss and a Forced Fumble. The JV Chix wrap up their opening season 4-game homestand by hosting the Rangers of Forest Hills Central next Thursday in the start of OK Gold conference play. Gametime is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
