Zeeland East Athletics Junior Varsity vs Forest Hills Central High School (20 - 35) Loss Last week Thursday, the 3-0 JV football team hosted the Forest Hills Central Rangers in their final game of a season opening 4-game homestand. In the OK Gold conference opening game, the Rangers came away with a 35-20 victory. The Chix received the opening kickoff and marched deep into Ranger territory, but the Rangers defense held and the Chix turned the ball over on downs. Then it was the Rangers turn on offense, as they drove the ball down to the Chix 1 yard line, but a big tackle by Soph. Evan Hunsberger on 4th down stopped the Rangers and the game was scoreless with about 5 minutes to play in the 1st Half. But over the last 5 minutes of the 2nd Qtr., each team would score 2 touchdowns. The Chix touchdowns came on a 36 yard run by Soph. Kolten Kimmel and a 9 yard TD catch by Soph. Hunter VanZyll with just 16 seconds left in the half and the game was tied 14-14 going into the 3rd Qtr. In the 3rd Qtr., the Rangers scored 3 touchdowns to take control of the game. The Chix countered with an 88 yard kickoff return touchdown by Soph. Mikah Jones, but it was not enough for the victory. The Chix are back in action on Thursday, Sept 24 as they travel to Hudsonville to play conference rival Unity Christian Crusaders. Gametime is set for 6:30 pm. Game Leaders for the Chix Offense Soph.
