Unity Christian downs ZE Hudsonville Unity Christian (13-1-1) defeated Zeeland East (12-3-2) by an 8-1 score on September 23rd, sweeping all four singles courts and taking four of five doubles matches. At No. 1 singles, Hudsonville Unity Christian’s Edmundo Berain Saucedo beat Zeeland East’s Daniel Steenwyk 6-0, 6-1. Sebastian Berain Saucedo (17-0) added a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Andrew Colasanti at No. 3 singles, while Corbin Mitchell secured the closest singles result, defeating Gavin Sullivan 6-4, 7-6 (6) in a tiebreak. The strongest doubles battle came at No. 1, where Lucas Scholten and Charlie Zeilstra outlasted Jacob Guerriero and Luke Hathaway 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Zeeland East’s lone point came at No. 3 doubles, while Hudsonville Unity Christian also won No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 doubles to complete a balanced performance. The result underscored the depth behind Hudsonville Unity Christian’s 13-1-1 season.
