Zeeland East Athletics Varsity vs Garden City High School (43 - 7) Win The Chix were action Friday night in a non-conference game against the Garden City High School Cougars from the metro-Detroit area. The game was played at a neutral site at East Lansing High School, but the Chix were considered the home team for the game. The Chix won the game 43-7, improving their overall record to 3-2 on the season. The Chix received the opening game kickoff from the Cougars and marched the ball down the field. But the Cougars held firm on a 4th and goal play, stopping the Chix at the 1 yard line and the Cougars took over the ball. The Cougars would then score quickly on a 90 yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead midway through the 1st quarter. The Chix offense got the ball right back and marched 65 yards on 7 plays, scoring a touchdown on a 24 yard run by Senior Isaiah Boonstra and after a 2-pt conversion reception by Senior TE Josiah Norman, the Chix led 8-7. The Chix defense made a quick adjustment and shut down the Garden City offense, forcing punts on the next 3 Cougar possessions. And the Chix offense kept rolling as well. The Chix would score two 2nd Qtr. touchdowns to push the lead to 22-7 at halftime. Senior RB Payton Sackett ran the ball 11 yards for a touchdown and Senior RB Zeek Ramadhani powered into the endzone from 1 yard out to extend the Chix led. In the 2nd half, the Chix defense continued to dominate the Cougars, forcing 3 more punts, while the Chix offense marched up and down the field, scoring 3 more touchdowns. The Chix scored the first touchdowns of the 2nd half on a 4 yard run by Zeek Ramadhani, his 2nd of the game. Late in the 3rd Qtr., Senior QB Will Drnek scored from 1 yard out to extend the Chix lead to 36-7. The final touchdown of the game, early in the 4th quarter, was varsity career first for each player as Sophomore QB Hudson Lamer tossed a 19 yard pass to Junior WR Jackson Musch. Senior K Carter Dyk converted the extra point attempt to complete the Chix scoring in the game. The Chix are back in action Friday night, October 2, as the visitor in the Bird Bowl at Zeeland Stadium vs Zeeland West. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm. Statistical Leaders for the Game Offense Sen.
