EAST GRAND RAPIDS HIGH SCHOOL: 49
The JV Chix opened their 2018 football season by hosting the East Grand Rapids Pioneers on Thursday evening. The Chix battled hard against the strong Pioneers team, but lost 49-26 in a high scoring game.
Offensively, the Chix moved the ball well through the air. Sam Cochran completed 23 of 31 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. Brandon Claerbaut caught 9 passes for 111 yards. Caleb Schrotenboer caught 7 passes for 35 yards, Ian Bannach added 3 catches for 56 yards and Nathan Claerbaut added 3 catches, including a touchdown. Rushing the ball, Nick Lamberts ran for 47 yards and 2 scores and Sam Cochran added a touchdown run.
Defensively, Zach Bellis led the team with 5 tackles. AJ Terhaar added a fumble recovery.
The Chix play their next game on Wednesday, August 29 at 6:15 pm versus Vicksburg. The game will be played at Allegan High School.
